The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction
Walter Benjamin
My digital installation builds on the principles of the Dadaists and Surrealists. It utilizes an assemblage mode, repurposing this already on the web, including memes and gifs that are often regarded as having little artistic value. It also investigates the proliferation of images and videos, and how they position the viewer to engage in them through distraction. I seek to push against this by challenging the spectator to consider how the annotation engages with the text it is connected with.
Technopoetics of Togetherness: Live Performance Before the End of the World
Marcela A. FuentesThis digital installation utilizes technopoetics as a mode of engagement through both interpolation and constellative witnessing.
The Enduring Ephemeral, or the Future Is a Memory
Wendy Hui Kyong Chun
This digital installation challenges the degradation and repeatability of digital and computerized memory. By utilizing images, videos, and sounds hosted elsewhere, links will degrade and break over time. This will replicate the enduring ephemerality of digital networking.
This project also performs the circuits and networks of digital spaces. The poems connect to each other in unexpected and geometric ways, rather than through clean indexing.
Cue Black Shadow Effect: The New Media Dramaturgy Experience
Peter Eckersall, Helena Grehan & Edward Scheer
This digital installation utilizes new media dramaturgy through creating an aesthetic and performative experience where the images and composition perfroma, as well as the participant, each person creating their own narrative mediated by the individual paths they choose to pursue.
I utilize the image machine by creating a digital installation that invites you to wander through the poems, clicking annotations and finding your way through the text and images in a digital spatiality.
